Went to last Halloween Horror Nights 5 Thursday and I survived!!!

I was still a cowering coward (like, I was literally cowering) but this time round, my eyes were open. Maybe the haunted houses were less scary this time round, but I would like to believe it was because I grew braver ╭( ・ㅂ・)و

Too lazy to post much, so here's just a photo dump:

You got to grab a few of these before entering the Hell House, and you must give it to the ghosts so appease them. I loved that interactive component!

We were gonna take a photo but that creature suddenly moved and freaked me out...

This dude tried to scare me but failed, hehe.

I loved this shot taken on Phhhoto!

I am proud to say that we managed to visit 5 haunted houses and took 3 roller coaster rides! I fulfilled my dream of finally taking the Cylon, yaasssss.

Conquered Halloween Horror Nights 5 - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

It has been four months into the internship and this might be the beginning of the most hectic period ever. Perhaps that explains why I have been indulging in lots of food and colouring.

Still, my life right now still feels exponentially less stressful than those who are currently in school, hehe *gloats*

I finally completed the very first page I attempted in my colouring book, so I just had to share such a momentous accomplishment with everyone. (Okay, sarcasm is hard to dish out in text form)

I got really sick of colouring trees and leaves at one point.

I spent my Friday night and Saturday afternoon colouring birds, and I must say they look quite decent for someone as unartistic as me.

johanas basford enchanted forest birds
I finished colouring the reindeer as well but I don't really like it cos it's just brown, which is boring.

Also started on this hot air balloon today. As you can see, I am on a roll here.

Even more leaves. Oh boy I am running out of ideas to colour them leaves.

I love looking at other people's colourings, and this person is amazing. Watching videos of this other person colouring is also very therapeutic.

I sold my Secret Garden colouring book to Jit since I have too many to finish right now, so she is a part of this now, hehe.

Met Jit for dinner on Friday and I cannot think of a better way to end the week!

We wanted to go to this hidden hipster bar located at a carpark, but the bar is outdoors and the haze was terrible. So... change of plans and we ended up at Marché instead!

Btw, the haze was so bad that we stepped into the hotel lobby, looked out and asked, "is it raining or is that the haze?" (。_+)\

It has been a looong time since I ate at Marché, and the rosti was as amazing as I remembered. Omg I feel so happy just thinking about the rosti!!!

marche restaurant suntec
Jit dipped mushrooms and roasted vegetables into the cream sauce that came with my crepe and she said it was good.

There were also lots of adorable little kids in the restaurant and Jit creepily and sneakily took photos of this little boy at the table next to us. When his dad placed the coconut in front of him, he happily waved his hands in the air ohmygoodness cuteness overload!!!!

I feel like such a creep, heh.

Adding on to the cuteness is this planner I found at a stationery shop that day.

Tiny little blobs trying to balance sushi on their heads!!!
Me and Jit could not stop gushing and spazzing over all the things in that store, hahaha I think we sounded like suaku bimbos with short attention spans going "OMG LOOK!!!" every few seconds.

And I think it's been too long since we got to have a good chat in person, now that her internship ended and she's back in school. We spent the entire time talking non-stop and I am not even exaggerating here.

Hi jeeeeeteeeesha I wonder if you are reading this ~ヾ(^∇^)

This Bukit Panjang bumpkin over here is thrilled to see Milk & Honey open an outlet at Bukit Panjang Plaza!!!

I tried their Chocolate Divine flavour previously and thought it was meh, but this Nuttilicious one was so good! Set me back $6.80 if I am not wrong, but worth the happiness and satisfaction that comes with such indulgent dessert.

Milk & honey nuttilicious
That is not mere chocolate sauce - it is Ferrero Brittle sauce, which basically tastes like molten Ferrero Rocher.

Met Yongshin and Choonz for brunch today and we had the legendary Blk 163 Ke Kou Mian that I only knew of recently despite living in this area for the past 17 years.

blk 163 ke kou mian
Who knew such a nondescript stall at a neighbourhood food court could be so popular?

We had to wait 1 hour for this, and they open from 2am to 2pm. They are basically popular enough to do whatever they want (like open at timings as strange as my body clock) and still have customers.

And now, the long-awaited bowl of maggie mee...

blk 163 ke kou mian
I am typing this at 1.30am and this is absolute torture.

This bowl of warm, soupy goodness was just $3 - $2.50 for the noodles and $0.50 for the egg.

It was basically pork, maggie mee and egg - nothing fanciful. But, I understand its appeal because it is one of the best supper/comfort food you can ask for. Eating this on a cold rainy day would be so blissful (▰˘v˘▰) The noodles were also soft yet super springy, which is perfect.

I wish I lived right next to Blk 163 so I could just go downstairs and dabao this every single day. I will never go hungry at suppertime again. Cup noodles will be rendered inferior and unnecessary. I will grow fat and all my hair would fall off, but it would still be worthwhile.

Okay, I am slightly exaggerating but I just really love maggie mee. I always get judged when I order them at those Hong Kong 茶餐厅, whereas this is 3 times cheaper and 100 times better.

Yay, Ke Kou Mian, I dub you the pride and joy of Bukit Panjang.

Thank you Yongshin the Bukit Panjang Guru for enlightening us and bringing this into my life, hahaha

Yay my Bukit Panjang buddies!

Went shopping after my ke kou mian brunch and decided to get the Godiva Chocolate Twist Soft Serve on a whim.

$8 for an ice cream cone, and it was not worth the splurge, sigh.

godiva twist soft serve
Look at that, the soft serve is already drooping in disappointment.

I tried the chocolate flavour a year ago and it was really good, but this one was just so mediocre. Maybe I got the wrong flavour?

The soft serve was not decadent enough to be worth $8, let alone worthy enough to be served at Godiva. This was thin and icy, and I think people might confuse it with McDonald's soft serve in a blind taste test. It was more cloying than chocolatey, which is the wrong type of sweet.

I think it is safer to stick to the chocolate flavour next time. Don't be adventurous and try their new Twist flavour. Bleurgh.

At least the portion was generous. I was already full by the time I reached the cone.

Okay, moving on from the brief moment of being disappointed over ice cream (seriously, how could ice cream let people down??? But it did).

Bought myself two pairs of Relaco lounge pants from Uniqlo and I am super happy with my purchase!

They are soooo comfy and if I am ever desperate enough, I think I can wear these to sleep and wake up the next day wearing them to school. If I am ever that burnt out from school.

uniqlo lounge drape pants
They are called 'lounge' pants and I really wanted to just lounge in it all day. I was so reluctant to take them off.

I actually went to Suntec to roam around the Public Garden flea, but it is getting boring. Every single flea has the same few sellers, and they all sell the same few things. The jewellery look the same, the stationery look the same, and I no longer find anything unique there. Oh well, this will help me save money. I would rather spend on food anyway.

It has been a good weekend with friends and food and shopping and colouring. I am so reluctant to go back to work tomorrow.

The weekends have been treating me well, but I need a much longer break to recharge from all the work and deadlines and high expectations that I am setting for myself.

Time to sleep and wake up four hours later to set off to work.

Hola amigos, meet my new baby!

I have officially abandoned my allegiance to Android and hopped onto the Apple bandwagon. No regrets for now, although my phone refuses to vibrate when I receive Whatsap notifications and I still cannot figure out why. Help.

In other news, met up with Derek, Klar and Joanne last Wednesday!

Derek is one head taller than everyone so he looks like a middle finger when he stands between us.

Had dinner at Saizeriya, and my fav was their escargot. So yummy and buttery, oh man I want to go back and eat it again ╰(⊹◕۝◕ )╯

It was a great time catching up with these guys, as always. As we grow up and our lives get busier, you learn that friendship is not defined by frequency alone.

Also, to quote Derek, "our generation is too fixated with replacing things, not fixing things". Not sure where that fits in but I just wanted to quote him somewhere, hee.

Reached home that day to a really nice surprised, cos Dawn sent me a postcard! (^▽^ʃƪ)

Holding it up against a white wall just to make it look more pretentious artistic.

Had dinner with Mabel on Thursday and I am now a fan of Sushi Express. Omg the torched salmon and scallop sushi and crab pincer!!!!!!

I am extremely hungry and craving for lots of food. I should not be talking about food right now. Moving on.

Went to Tokyu Hands and saw this.... which was featured on Clicknetwork's Tried and Tested.

Ok, I am definitely too immature to be 21 but HAHAHAHAHA.

Keeping up with the unintentional Japanese theme of the night, we dropped by Maccha House for dessert. I ordered the Salted Caramel Maccha Panna Cotta with soft serve.

I was never a fan of matcha, and...

Matcha is so... bitter. I don't understand its appeal the slightest bit. Someone please enlighten me.

I also spent the whole time trying to secretly video Mabel because I am addicted to this app called Phhhoto, which produces "instant moving pictures".

It's a rather badly-named app, but I love acting hipster with it (albeit failing terribly).

So here's one of Mabel laughing and judging me for being so obsessed:

And my 孔明灯

And now for some cheap thrills, because I am dying at work and need something to make life more interesting...

Free cake from the newly opened Patisserie Platine, because they used it for a photoshoot. It was... meh #unimpressed

Thai iced tea cake

Today at the 54th floor of the hotel, I spotted tiny humans at the roof of ArtScience Museum and it amused me greatly. I think this gives you a clear indication of the monotony of my life.

It looks like a giant monster robot hand trying to crush the humans.

Was supposed to buy a magazine today and ended up roaming around town aimlessly. Walked around for two hours and splurged on food and basically bought anything but the magazines because they're not out yet.

Oh well, here's a photo dump of the random shit I take photos of.

I think the stress is getting to me and I bought this on impulse.

Might as well take a pretentious photo if I am paying so much for this.

$15 for a small bottle of hot chocolate from Angelina... this had better be worth it. Sigh, this is the sneak preview of my stress eating.

I bought a bar of chocolate and couldn't even wait till I reached home to eat it, so I ate it while walking around Raffles City like the greedy pig that I am.

I can feel myself slowly degenerating into a crumbled pile of sleep-deprived nocturnal intern. Shall not go into details but I really, really need a week-long break.

Okay, skyping the suite now so my week is made ♡〜٩(^▿^)۶〜♡

Finding happiness in the simplest of things to fuel me through each day. Not too bad a habit to have, actually.

Friday, 9 October 2015

Took me an entire week to post this because I have been so sleep-deprived, no thanks to my body clock that is screwed beyond repair. Sigh, this article resonates with me way more than it should have.

I can't believe I almost overslept for supper today. This is a new low, even for me.

Okay, before I digress any further, lemme recall what happened last week:

Lunch in the freakin' haze

Last Thursday was a good day because some colleagues decided to treat the interns to lunch!

They said it was to thank us for the hard work preparing for Clean The World, but isn't that part of my job scope anyway? So there really wasn't a need to treat me for doing my job as an intern. Why so nice??! I am genuinely very touched :')

Soooo, we had lunch at South Coast.

And they sat us outdoors.

Dat haze tho.

Speaking of lunch, the dining room had the best dessert ever last Wednesday.

I can't believe they gave us Salted Caramel Almond Crunch snowskin mooncake from SweetSpot, at the dining room, for free. I took three servings and I am not the least bit ashamed.

To quote Clement, "TDR r0x". Hahahahaha.

The Intern

This intern went to watch The Intern last Thursday night!!!

The movie was not bad! Anne Hathaway was amazing as always, and Robert De Niro looked like such an adorable and kindly grandpa, awww.

I was so in love with the movie set. Especially the sleek and clean start-up office, which makes my space at work look like a slump in comparison. This article certainly did not make me feel less sian about my grey desk at my office that is located two floors underground...

Jit's last day ☹

Last Friday was Le Jit's last day of internship (′︿‵。)

(Oh yes, I decided that Lé Jit can be Jit's French name. It is pronounced as 'legit'. I am proud of myself for thinking of that because I clearly don't have much else of a life)

Went to St. Marc Cafe after work with Jit and Clement to celebrate her liberation from internship, and she treated us! Awwww (´▽`ʃƪ)

The Choco Banana Split was so shiok! The ice cream was alright, but what I really loved was the toppings, especially the pudding and cornflakes. It's like finding treasure - you dig through the ice cream only to realise you've uncovered a layer of cornflakes and cake hidden underneath that soft serve.

This photo does not do the soft serve justice.

We got Mango Fantasy as well, but I'm not really a fan of mangoes so I didn't eat much. Especially not after they decided to 'blend' everything together because it apparently tasted better that way...??!?!

All I could do was judge them (and film it down).

Aww, I'll miss all that nonsense. Now Clement is the only other nonsense intern to talkcock with.

I am significantly shorter when standing in between them, sigh.

Crimson's 21st

Last Sunday was Crimson's 21st birthday party!

It was so amusing to meet up with a few 1134 people again and realise how none of us have changed at all. We still each have our own habits and quirks and bimbo-ness, like Mabel always needing food and Choonz always having to pee.

With the birthday girl, who is sporting her 名星 asymmetrical haircut.

Man, I really miss those NYJC days. 1134 was the most adorable class ever, being a literature class and overflowing with girliness since we only had three guys in class.

This week got quite stressful when I was too worried about screwing up and making mistakes at work. I think I sometimes put too much pressure on myself to do things perfectly, especially when it is something new and I want to prove that I can accomplish it.

But as much as it gets stressful when I am assigned relatively challenging tasks that come with higher stakes if I were to screw up, I like it because each time I complete a task, it's like levelling up. I think it is the best way to make progress and learn from experience, so I am thankful for this week's tasks :)

My otherwise stressful week ended really well though!

The TGIF mood is strong today because work was so chill. I just sat there printing stuff and reading magazines, so I was actually doing work but the work itself was a breeze.

Ooh and I got to go to the museum today, which I love because it is my chance to get some exposure to sunlight. I leave home before the sun rises and reach home when the sun sets, and my office is underground. Sometimes I feel like I am turning into a vampire or developing some sort of vitamin D deficiency.

So I happily took some photos on the way back to the office, just because I am happy to be walking about under the sun. Sigh, I really get entertained by the stupidest things.

Spot the Sky Mirror by Anish Kapoor!

Wah wah, does this look like some stock photo for The Shoppes? Hahaha ok shaddup eve.

And to end my already very happy Friday on an even better note, I met up with Choonz and Yongshin for supper! My fellow Bukit Panjang buddies ヽ(^◇^*)/

I think we are quite fated okay, meeting each other back when we studied at a school located all the way in Serangoon!!!

We sat there for four hours talking and I really cannot think of a better way to end the week. Hopefully the first of many suppers/meet-ups to come (´⌣`ʃƪ)

Go market for supper also must take photo, teehee

Ending my otherwise boring post with something sooooper doooper adorbzxczxz, I read this article about Japanese kids being independent and the video was so cute and funny!!! Part two of the video can be found here.

It is this Japanese show that features little kids as young as five years old going out to run errands on their own for the very first time. Apparently, that is very common in Japan.

Okay I am typing this at 5am so my brain is clearly shutting down. G'night.
