Today marks the end of recess week \(;´□`)/

It has not been very productive, but that goes without saying. All I accomplished this week was revert to my fucked up sleep cycle. I am now sleeping at 6am and waking up at 6pm, yay me!

So to sum up my "study break":

Nichol wanted to watch How to be Single, so we had a lunch and movie date.

Lunched at Sumiya Charcoal Grill Izakaya, which was her 好介绍. I tried Chirashi-don for the first time and I loved it!!!

sumiya orchard central chirashi don
Look at those colourful and pretty bowls of Chirashi-don.
The lunch set was quite value for money! Around $20 for Chirashi-don, salad, chawanmushi, miso soup and mochi.

The salmon was very fresh, and I now realise why people love Chirashi-don. It is so shiok to eat huge chunks of raw salmon with Japanese rice! The mochi was so unassuming, but it turned out to be really nice. It's filled with this black sesame, red bean and milk paste. Not too sure what it was, but it surpassed expectations.

Overall a very satisfying lunch and I am already craving for it now. Anybody wants to try, jio me please! (*´ڡ`●)

how to be single
Okay, I already expected How to be Single to be a trashy chick flick, but it might be entertaining so why not give it a try? After watching this, I think you are better off spending your time and money on other movies. The Revenant and Deadpool are still showing.

I didn't dislike the movie, although it was just two hours of stereotypical scenes. Smart-ass remarks from Rebel Wilson, hit-and-miss attempts at relationships, single girls getting drunk and looking for love. At least I didn't fall asleep.

My favourite line in the movie: “there is no such thing as a break, season 3 Ross."

Also, I am obsessed with Dakota Johnson's outfits in the movie! I couldn't find any nice pictures online though. I searched "how to be single outfits", so anyone going through my search history would think that I was finding for outfits for being single.

Gary was transiting in Singapore, so we went to Chomp Chomp for dinner. No photos here, because I was too eager to eat.

I was looking forward to my durian mousse, but Dessert Bowl was closed for Chinese New Year. K N N . We settled for shaved ice at Dessert Story instead. Sigh, my durian mousse.

We had grand plans to recce several locations for our amazing race, but it kept raining.

We did make it to Botanic Gardens, only to be caught in the rain. So we spent most of out time there trapped in a pavilion with a bunch of pigeons who were also seeking shelter. Oh the wonders of nature. Here's a photo of some greenery for you ^

bar bar black sheep butter chicken butter naan
Had dinner at Bar Bar Black Sheep, which was like a more upscale version of Al-Ameen. I swear, butter chicken and butter naan are a match made in heaven. Their butter chicken was not spicy at all, so I was spared the tears and drippy nose despite my low tolerance for spicy food.

bar bar black sheep macaroni and cheese mac n cheese
Ordered mac n' cheese, which got quite sickening after awhile because every bite tasted purely of chewy mozzarella cheese. Beneath that layer of crusty baked cheese was macaroni swimming in sauce that was too watery to be classified as a sauce. Would not order again.

I finally got productive by Friday, but that was only because I procrastinated the entire week.

Went to school for a project meeting, which was followed by another online project meeting. I ended up camping in school for the rest of the day to rush assignments.

This looks like some hipster cafe, but it was actually Pizza Hut Express in UTown. I was actually doing work while eating pizza, not sure if it is sad because of work or awesome because of pizza.

I actually really enjoyed my Friday, although it revolved around work. I love the feeling of being productive. Maybe that is why I always procrastinate. There is no motivation to do work until it piles up, because the challenge of completing them in time by being as productive as possible is what drives me to get cracking.

Okay, that may just be a bunch of bullshit excuse.

Lately, I've been exercising more frequently because I realised that it makes me feel energised and refreshed. My new "daily routine" includes exercising along to some YouTube workout video, showering, then doing work. It has barely been a week since I started, so let's hope I get in the groove (and stay in that groove).

After a few days of feeling infuriatingly sluggish and staying in bed all day, I realised that getting just a few minutes of exercise really works wonders.

Okay, it is now 7am and I am still awake, so I am officially screwed when school is back in full swing.

So many deadlines ahead, yet I am still making plans to meet up with people. Never die before is it?

So my recess week has not been the most productive, just like all previous recess weeks. I slept at 6am, woke up at 6pm today, had dinner, napped again, watched Scream Queens and played Candy Crush.

Okay, I managed to do a bit of exercise and made a tiny bit of progress for my assignments, but that is nothing compared to all the lazing around.

And then I stumbled upon this Reddit post.
"A zero day is when you don't do a single fucking thing towards whatever dream or goal or want or whatever that you got going on ... Didnt' do anything all fucking day and it's 11:58 PM? Write one sentence. One pushup. Read one page of that chapter. One. Because one is non zero."
The whole concept is so simple: Just do something. Anything, no matter how minute it may be.

And I am guessing by the time you write one sentence for your essay, you are likely to keep going because you now have the momentum.

I read this before, but forgot all about it. Which is such a shame, because I think it is incredibly useful for days when you feel like you don't give a flying fuck about doing anything productive and want to waste your life swiping candies on a screen.

Okay, this shall be a quick post because I need to finally write some shit for my assignment. Who knew coming up with Tweets and Facebook posts could take this long?

I have been neglecting my blog because of assignments, heh. Now that it's recess week, I guess it is due for an update! I might be swamped with work, but I still have a life okay? (⌐▨_▨)

The Revenant

Met up with Jit for our Soi 55 + movie date, and both did not disappoint!

soi 55 thai green milk tea
I have always disliked green tea, so I don't know what possessed me to get the Thai Green Milk Tea... but I LOVED IT. I think the green tea made it more refreshing, and balanced out the milkiness pretty well. I would probably find the drink too sweet otherwise.

This is us freezing in the theatre after watching The Revenant. I went in knowing nothing about the movie, and emerged in awe. This is the type of film you should catch in the cinema - watching it on any other screen simply would not do.

My limited vocabulary and knowledge of films will probably fail to do The Revenant any justice, so I shall leave it at that.

Oh, and I was craving for Popeye's but was turned off by the idea of eating meat after watching the movie, so I ate sushi instead. Props to Leonardo DiCaprio for eating raw bison... urgh.

These people were walking around, probably to promote Deadpool. They must be melting in those costumes.

Met up with Xing Xing cos it was her recess week! She had free tickets, so we watched Deadpool for free (⊙ꇴ⊙)

I barely know anything about Marvel, but I loved the movie! It was sassy, tongue-in-cheek, crude, witty, sexy, violent and a bit of romance without being sappy and cheesy. Overall an entertaining two hours. Remember to stay for the post credits scene.

Cannot lah XX, you are too demure to be Deadpool (✿◠‿◠)

Had dinner at Menya Musashi, and the tonkotsu broth was the most flavourful I have ever tasted. My ideal ramen would be this broth + Santouka's pork cheek, mmm (ˆ ڡ ˆ)

Wah Chee

Finally met up with Machiavelli last Thursday! I had an assignment and a presentation due the next day, but this was definitely worth my time. It has been a while, since some of us are not in Tembusu anymore.

This is a shitty photo of half-eaten food, but I just wanted to take a photo of something that day. Ordered the standard few dishes, talked about the same few things, and it feels like I am back in Tembusu again.

Survived Friday with two hours of sleep, went home after my 4-6pm lecture and crashed. Slept the whole of Saturday away, so I guess this recess week started the same way as all my past recess weeks.

Lots of assignments and projects due after this break, so I probably need to snap out of this nua mode soon. In the meantime, I am going to stalk this dude's blog because he travels the world to eat and review McDonald's food, and who wouldn't want to read about that?

This is making me miss McDonald's Spiced Butter Teppanyaki Burger... ╥﹏╥

Thursday, 4 February 2016

It is already week 4 of school, and I am still surprisingly chill. Assignments, tutorials and readings have been manageable, and this is making me rather paranoid. Is this the calm before the storm?

Not like I am complaining about having four happy weeks of school thus far (▰˘v˘▰)

Tuesday: suite lunch at Marché

Stepping out into the sunny sky park was so liberating!!! I felt like I was transported back to those orientation camp days again.

Marché's rosti with egg was super shiok, as always. I love potatoes and I love fried egg, nomz.

Any day spent with them will be a good day (๑°꒵°๑)・*♡ I really wanna have a suite Bangkok trip.

Wednesday: captain's ball with the ocomm progs team

It was my free day but I travelled back to school just to play captain's ball. I think I am a fit and healthy person now.

We somehow ended up rolling around like fishballs, because why not?

Week 4 of school. So far, so good (˘・ᴗ・˘)
